Taupō is the heart of Aotearoa New Zealand’s beautiful North Island.  At the centre of the region is sparkling Lake Taupō, the great inland sea of New Zealand. As you travel around the lake, you will find every landscape you can imagine. Snow-blanketed winter ski fields and alpine deserts. Ancient forests alive with birdsong. Trout-filled rivers and the thundering Huka Falls. Steaming geothermal valleys with rejuvenating hot springs. Three towering volcanoes in the awesome and otherworldly landscape of Tongariro National Park.  Taupō is the perfect backdrop for such an awesome event and provides teams with so much to do between games.

The festival attracts more than a 100 teams each year from around the country and the world having previously welcomed international teams from Japan, France, South Africa, America and Australia. Register your interest as early as possible because places in the draw fill up quick!

Online Club Expression of Interest (One per club)

Every club needs to complete an Online Club Expression of Interest. Event management will then either confirm that a spot is available for your team(s) in the draw or whether they will be put on the wait-list. The sooner you apply, the more likely it will be that we will have a place for your team in the draw. Registrations open November 1st for the following year and fill up within the month, so bets to set a reminder now.


Entry Fee

The cost of entry to NZJRF festival is $50/player.


A deposit of $350 per team is due within a month of event management confirming your place in the draw to confirm your spot. This is fully refundable up until 1st of May,  in case you decided you can no longer attend.  The deposit comes off the teams entry fee and is not an extra cost. Due to demand for places, the deposit is to show us you're committed to attending.

Online Team Sheets

A link to the Team Sheets will be emailed to the club to send on to all of their team managers to complete. They will be sent out 1st of July and must be completed by 1st of August.  Teams are only allowed 3 player changes to the team sheet (due to injury, family circumstances etc) once initially submitted.


Once team sheets have been completed, we will invoice to each club based on the number of players in the team.


1st of September is when final team entry fees are due. The team's deposit is deducted from the total team entry.

Thursday 17th September

1:00pm: Weigh-in opens / Teams are allowed to start setting-up marquees on fields 

5:15pm: Managers collect info packs from downstairs of HQ

5:30pm: Compulsory Managers Meeting for all teams

Friday 18th September

7:30am: Teams allowed onto the fields to set-up marquees

8:15am: Teams line up on field 2 to prepare for opening ceremony

8:30am: Opening Ceremony commences - Please ensure all players know the Haka Kamate

5:30pm: Games conclude

Saturday 19th September

7:30am: Teams are allowed to arrive

9:00am: First game

12:00pm - 1:00pm: Lunch break

1:00pm: Games continue

5:00pm: Games conclude

Sunday 20th September

8:30am: First Game

2:15pm: Games conclude

2:30pm- 3:30pm: Prize giving
